Fire Marshal Course for Construction Sites - 4 Hour Course

Course Aim

To build knowledge on the nature and causes of fire on construction sites and how to manage the site fire safety responsibilities with regard to evacuation and prevention of fire hazards. To explain the responsibilities of Fire Marshals or appointed Fire Co-ordinators managing small construction sites. To provide guidance and templates for use in writing a suitable site fire safety policy and evacuation procedures.

For larger constructions sites where The Fire Co-ordinator would be expected to carry out Fire Risk Assessments of the site the additional one day "Construction Site Fire Risk Assessment" Course would be Required.

Course Contents Include:

  • Explanation on how fire starts, develops and travels
  • The immediate effects of smoke and fire
  • Your emergency response and evacuation procedures
  • Human behavior and how to control it in an emergency situation
  • What is legally required in a Fire Safety Policy
  • Full explanation on extinguisher types, there uses and limitations
  • Hands on practical with extinguishers on variety of small controlled live fires
  • Hot Work Hazards and Permits to Work
  • Safe Storage of Flammable Liquids / LPG and Acetylene
  • Legislative framework of Fire Safety Order 2005 and guidance document overview of fire prevention on construction sites (ACoP 7th edition)
  • Timber Frame Building Hazards

Course Costs:

The course is designed for up to 15 persons for the inclusive cost of £495 plus Vat for delivery at locations in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. The cost includes all course handouts, presentation equipment provision, use of extinguishers, certificates of attendance, hi-vis vests and a complimentary chocolate bar for all attendees.
